Kalamata Airport Information - 2008
Charter flights: available between April &
October.
From: England, Germany, Holland, Finland, Sweden, Norway
and the Czech Republic.
New flights: From Vienna
Internal flights: from Kalamata airport to Thessaloniki airport (3 domestic flights per week). Also domestic flight to Crete are will be available from
May 2008
Train Line: Messini to Kalamata
The Railway Organisation of Tripoli has developed a new train line connecting the existing line at Asprochoma to the town of Messini. Station at Kalamata airport.
The Good Road Programme
Good News! Access to the Messinian
peninsular from Athens is to be improved. A new road
between Tripoli and Methoni will be open in 2009.
Another new major road is planned between Kalamata and Methoni further opening up the area. Plans indicate
that between Kalamata and Petalidi the new road will run 700m away from the beach, although plans have not yet been released
for the later section as yet. A new road running from Pygros to Pylos has already
been marked out.
Golf Resorts
One of the Greek Government current aims is to promote tourism by investing in
golf course. There are three golf courses planned for the Messinian Peninsular.
Local Elections
Did you know that all EU citizens have the right to vote and stand as a candidate
in local elections?
How to register: fill out an application form and submit photocopies of your passport
or identity card and an official document such as a utility bill that has your address on it. For further details contact

Olive Trees
For those of you that own olive trees, are you aware that you can apply for EU
subsidies?
How to register: go to your
local Agricultural Union, take your house contract and fill in an application form. This should be
done in October, results of your application January.
